Of course, that is not what is odd. What is odd is that they had these around for this long, then, supposedly got a batch with bad cases, and now have enough to be selling what looks like close to 5000 "refurbished" Nooks. Also, the 1.4.3 version is a totally different piece of hardware with no internal SD socket but a chip hardwired in, at least according to nookdev. What the conventional wisdom said was that the hardware change came around serial 10031 or so.

What is even odder is that I got one today with a serial number nearly the same which had 1.4.0 firmware which has the older chip socket. My unit makes sense. The one above should have had 1.4.0 unless 1.4.3 is something really weird or unless he somehow got a hardware change many, many months early.

I am happy, in my case, because the old hardware I received is softrootable and looks new.
