The "bad case" thing is looking really weird now as I have seen reports of people receiving a 1.4.1 firmware, meaning it is a unit about 2 months old. i just got a 3G unit, looks perfect, but it had the old style buttons as well as a 1000 serial which is quite old. I am pleased as I was resigned to a newer non-rootable 1.4.1 but their statement about a "shipment with bad cases" won't hold up unless they have old and new units mixed in this batch of refurbs. In any case, mine still has the older defective buttons. On the plus side, I can modify that and when softrooted, I almost never need the buttons.
Guess we can't tell what we will get when we buy these.
