1. Yes, as an owner/user of both I would say they are pretty similar in clarity.
2. You get less text size options on a 505 but I never had any great issues with my 505. epub compatibility is the same. I don't tend to read many PDFs but I have heard that the reflow functions are better on the 650.
3. The 650 is a little smaller and perhaps more importantly, a bit lighter.
4. My 505 is silver and my 650 is black. I like both, but that's very much personal preference.
