I think that some modifications would require a big rewrite of some code and would be very difficult without support from Ectaco or the chinese manufacturer, jcnip.

Looking around the file structure of jetbook lite v.016 I found indications of hardcoded solutions, like the font selection. The font selection menu is in fact an image with fonts names (the hint was the names Verdana and Arial in the menu, but the font files are named verdana.ttf and arial.ttf, no uppercase)

So, even if you add more fonts, they would not appear on the menu nor could be selected by other keys.

The flickering that some devices have seems to be due the values choosen for refresh rate of the screen.

There is a lot of potential but, without the manufacturers help, seems a daunting task.
