It is true that SiPix has a somewhat darker screen than Vizplex or Perl, but I think the darkness of the Text is probably a bigger issue. The only review I have seen so far indicates that the text on the Orizen is plenty dark, so the reader should be pretty easy to read.
I only wish the Pandigital reader had text as dark as the Orizen; that would give you most of the features for a fair bit less money
