Some further testing on the speed of initially opening a book with different formats in the ebook viewer:

Lit: Still very slow (~10 seconds)
Epub: Very fast (< 0.5 seconds)
LRF: Very slow
Mobi: Very fast
PDB: Very fast
PRC: Very fast
