I wonder with the potential for family "gifting" her with ebooks from various sources, if one of the Android tablets might be a better choice? (I'm assuming "gifting" doesn't mean pirating, and the book might have DRM).
The ability to have all the various sites' "apps" would mean your 11 year old wouldn't have to learn to become a hacker to read her book, regardless of the source!
