Not entirely crazy!

But I am a little skeptical, because Amazon stands to gain quite a bit by being able to compete on price with other ebook stores. That sells content, which sells Kindles, which sells more content from Amazon. A double-edged sword, but nobody said market forces were benevolent.
I'm more inclined to believe that Apple and the publishers were taking aim at Amazon. That's playing hardball, but it is not necessarily illegal.
