Price is objective fact. Nothing at all subjective about it.

The author signs a contract. They were not forced to do it. The behaviour of their business partners will always affect them. If they do a deal with someone known for high pricing - that is, crappy value for consumers - how can you reasonably not expect people to say this book is a ripoff?

It is the agents that get to escape the consumer blowback, generally.
