Not on the Kindle 3, it doesn't. I agree that would be a bad idea, if it were true.

Again, and I'll bold it so it doesn't get overlooked again the sort of "off" you get with a 7 second hold is barely distinguishable from sleep.

The only thing I notice is the lack of a screen saver.


Y'all might want to try the 7 second hold to see what it actually does. It's nowhere near the same as turning off a computer.


It wakes up the same as from screensaver mode.
