I got DH one of the Philips dawn simulator alarm clocks for Christmas last year. He isn't terribly impressed with it (I think because he's one of those who has to leap out of bed the moment he realizes "it's time"), but I LOVE it. I find I wake up much more gently with the light coming up gradually - and oddly enough almost always right at the half way point. It's lovely to be able to turn over for another 15 minutes of dozing before the birdies start chirping (my preferred "alarm").
