I noticed something that would likely work in basic fashion.

The Reject Shop has $3 A5 diaries - faux leather, the ones with vertical pockets that the first and last page of the diary slides into.

Take out the diary and you'll be able to slide a V3 kindle into the pocket, either side. Not read it in there, but carry it around and protect it.

This sort of thing, but a no-name variety with a bookier 'tome-looking' brown fake leather cover :-
