Mine had been going from sleep to off from time to time, but I haven't seen it happen since the last firmware was released, and I'm hoping it will stay that way, which is the way it's supposed to work.
I still have an issue with books, mostly sideloaded, where I'm manually trying to put it to sleep by tapping the switch, and it goes off instead.
and yes, it's only PDF's that can be rotated to landscape mode.
