Nook Color is a tablet with the capability of reading all book formats. You won't be locked into ePub. It'll be sporting a Kindle for Android app in no time.
Out of curiosity, why does your price difference argument only apply to the Kindle and not the Nook? If people looking at a Kindle want eInk, then so do people looking at a Nook.
