Ideal e-reader for academic use - post your suggestions!

Hi everyone, I teach at university and I have to read lots of papers, thesis, etc. on pdf. I have a Kindle 3 which is great for literature, but I need something for work. I tried the Kindle DX for some time, I thought about an ipad, but I'm not satisfied.
I would like to hear your suggestios - if possible within the realm of the possible today or soon. Think about it as market research for an OEM that might read this in Taiwan or Shenzen... My points are:

-E ink is great for literature, but I can cope with LCD for a 30/40 pages paper.
-9.7 inches is too SMALL for full page A4 or letter publications
-I need to annotate - not with a keyboard, I need to underline, mark, write comments, etc.

The ideal would then be a 12 inch ipad with iannotate, but this is not going to happen. I am settling for a 11.6 inch Android tablet with LCD. Does this sound right? The Asus tablet has failed to materialize.

Does a device like this exist? Thanks!
