I've been talking with John Schember, the author of the Quick Start Guide for calibre which becomes shipped with every installation of the software. Since it was written in January and many things have changed since then, and I felt it was a good idea to translate the QSG into my mother tongue (Spanish), I asked him about the idea of translating and/or expanding the Guide.
John welcomed the idea of translating and/or expanding the Quick Start Guide, and he proposed a license to use for that. The license is, concretely, the
Creative Commons 3.0 Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike.
Therefore, I feel that, now that it's legally set and so on, it is a good idea to start a project for translating the Quick Start Guide. The Calibre team could then attach each translation to its correspondent language, which would improve the ease of use of Calibre.
I'm still working in the Spanish version of the guide, and I'll publish it as soon as possible. Nevertheless, I think the project can start now. Hereby I upload a copy of Schember's original text, with the new license added, which is the pattern for the rest of translations.
In order to translate it, the best idea IMO is to open the file with
Sigil or any other .epub editor, switch on the "code view" and replace the English text with your language of choice's version.
