You might regard PDF as the worst format but it has one thing going for it, its the most acessible format available. Most word processors can save to that format, making it cheap and easy to use. Microsoft is a tad ham fisted at the job and Open Office, which is free, can acomplish the task like a real pro. I am yet to see a productivity suite that can use mobi pocket or epub.
