No. That'd be more work than trying to modify the Kindle and even when you've done all that work, you're still left with the problem that the Kindle isn't expecting a mouse/keyboard so won't pay attention to it. One side of a USB connection must be a host and that involves having a processor and software to handle it. A keyboard/mouse won't have that at all so you'd need to attach it to basically a very small computer.
If you really want something with a keyboard/mouse that badly then you're better off looking into buying a cheap netbook of some kind than to modify the Kindle. It'd be cheaper than your idea and you'd end up with a fully functional computer instead of a hacked up Kindle with limited web browser.
