I just emailed Audubon Birds and the following may be of interest:
Android users please note that Android will be coming out (date
unknown) with a software release which allows you to download the
complete app to your SD card. In the meantime you will need about
100MB free on your device for the initial download.


iBirds is plainly the better app, but in February they said the Android release would be "just around the corner".

It may seem a bit off-topic for some, but I think that interactive field guides are the natural extension of paper books to the digital environment. An plain eBook of Audubon, Petersons, National Geographic, or Sibleys would be disappointing.
