Hi Marcel, tjdean,

Many thanks for your help. Your combined suggestions indeed solve the problem completely.

The use I had in mind is pretty standard: exporting notes taken on the DR into text usable by a word-processing program.

A priori, it was not clear to me whether the best possibility would be to have an adequate program such as xstroke directly on the DR or to convert what you write in xournal into text on your computer. The IREX web-page being closed since I became interested in the device and such questions, it is somewhat difficult for me to see what the company originally had in mind for notes taken on the Iliad or the DRs as a lot of threads refer to discussions on their web-page.

But having downloaded a trial version of the software suggested by tjdean, which works much, much better than what I expected, even for cursive writing, I now indeed believe that the optimal solution is to

- take notes in xournal in landscape mode with some sensors locked
- export to IRX format
- export file to computer and convert there with the software suggested by tjdean

any improvements on this workflow out there ?
