Cheaper color options would be a myriad of generic Android tablets with low end specs, starting around $100.
If it were me, I wouldn't consider any of them. I prefer quality products with high end specs. I'd get the Nook Color. It's a high end tablet at a bargain price.
Whatever you do, compare the features and specs. Keep in mind that all of the tablets cheaper than the Nook Color are saving money by using cheaper parts with fewer features and/or lower specs.
For example, the displays on the cheaper tablets are resistive touch with lower resolution. Whereas Nook Color uses a high end capacitive touch IPS display with higher resolution. Compared side-by-side, the difference is very noticeable.
