If they waited for color eInk it would be many months away (maybe 6) and cost more and deliver less resolution and color saturation compared to all the tablets I keep hearing the NC will compete with.
I cannot fault this business decision from B&N, if the device works well and ships on time or close to on time I think it will be a success. More importantly for B&N they will be at the forefront of content providers with lots of color content.
