Yes. I imagine is the last part TadW.
It is a short story by Len Deighton, the Spy author of the Ipcress File. He has a collection of stories called Declarations of War.

One of the story tells of an evening in Oxford or Cambridge, i do not remember exactly, when two old friends, a don and his ex pupil that now lives abroad, sit around the fireplace roasting chestnuts and chatting. and the friend makes a long speech about loyalty to principles and independence of judgement and the like. When the evening is over it is discovered that his name is Goering. Flat joke, I am sure.
