I'm not a fan of the big booze-fest events such as New Year's, St. Patrick's, Memorial Day (although I do respect its original purpose), or Labor Day, since Sacramento drivers are quite bad enough when sober. We stay in on those days, not being drinker/partier types ourselves.

Fourth of July can be nice (drunks aside), thanks to fireworks displays. The food at Thanksgiving is always good, and I have a strong appreciation for Easter and Christmas for religious reasons (don't throw things at me, mods! That is ALL I'm saying on the religion issue!). I do resent the commercialization and frenzy US "culture" has turned Christmas into, though.
