I agree with you 100%. The best way to handle it is editing the old posts. If you already grabbed the book there is really no need for you to care and if you are viewing the thread a few days late, it is nice to know it right there and then and not have to match posts later saying it has expired, as by then you would have already clicked through to check for yourself.
