But even though image on the display might not be "sharper" to the human eye in terms of resolution, that level of density should increase the color rendering and effective dynamic range of the panels thanks to the ability to do more "color mixing". So the net effect should be what appears to be a more natural analog-like image on the panels. This would likely not matter too much for typefaces but for image rendering it's HUGE.
Of course unless the panels are properly color calibrated the advantage could be rendered pointless.
