PDB and PRC are both just "wrappers" around any type of data. The contents of the file are determined by an 8-character field in the file header. In the case of a MobiPocket file this is either "TEXTREAD" or "BOOKMOBI". You'll see this if you open a Mobi file in a text viewer such as Notepad.
