If you're speaking about dedicated E-Ink devices, my general thought would be Amazon or Sony, as they have the new pearl screens which no one else has yet.

Having said that, I think it's more important to ask whose tech is best fitted to your needs. A rowboat is hardly advanced technology, but it does its job very well.

I don't know if you know the story about NASA spending huge sums to create a pen that would still work in micro-gravity. After the Cold War had ended they asked the Russians how they solved the problem. The answer: They used pencils.
