You might consider the "Lost Regiment" series of books by William R. Forstchen. It's an alternate history/adventure novel about a civil war regiment that gets transported to a different world.

Now that I think of it, I'm not sure if it is available as an ebook, but there is a lot of detail about the historical period surrounding the civil war era.
