What kind of USB charger are you using? I have tried a couple of standard 5v USB wall plug chargers with my Sony and none of them charge it. I've read elsewhere that it only accepts a USB charge if plugged into an actual computer. I have no idea *why* this should be, so perhaps you've got the right charger to do it sans computer.
