Don't mean to be contrary but there is an old saying in the IT field that "its frequently valuable to listen to the nay sayers when solving an It problem." On the subject of ebook reading on an ipod there is a few problems:

1) Its an awfully small screen
2) Its frightfully expensive
3) Its proprietary and one may not want a giant company telling you what you can and can not read.
