Talking G'day world...

Salutation
G'day from Melbourne, Australia.

Intro
Just got my first eBook reader yesterday. A Graphite Kindle3G with the lighted case.

Background
I am a Mac user (2 MacBooks: 1 white&1 Black and a Hackintoshed Dell Mini 10V) who came over from Linux after growing tired of tweaking and after a childhood hating Windows.
My other mobile devices include an iPhone3G and an 4th Gen iPod Nano.

My purpose of getting the Kindle is essentially to read newspapers and check email / the weather on the go. Thanks to the free 3G wireless

I'm a research scientist and have to read copious amounts of PDF literature.

Outside of work, my favourite authors are Haruki Murakami and Bill Bryson.

Noob Questions
What I'm grappling with ATM:
1. Calibre! What a program!! Unfortunately, I'm lost with all these newspaper subscriptions. If I enter my kindle address with the @free.kindle.com
Would they still charge me for getting papers delivered? Why can't it simply download the paper on the computer sync using the cable? I really don't want to be charged anything by Amazon.

2. Is there anyway to sync my Endnote library to my Kindle? Would have been fabulous if Kindle sold itself as the "iPod" of Endnote. Yes my library is larger than the 3.3G Kindle gives me but surely we can choose what papers to put on... . Perhaps I'm barking up the wrong tree, should be talking to the Endnote guys.

3. Any jailbreaks I should know about?

4. Any chance anyone know where I can get Murakami or Bryson books cheap to put on my new Kindle?

5. What bookmarks for the browser I should know about?
