Perhaps she is talking about the wedge of the palm - the hand curled around so the Kindle is cradled by the palm. It is sort of makes the same shape as the frog of a horse's hoof. I think she will have to explain - I'm just an ignorant American.....

I never really tried to hold the "naked" Kindle in one hand, to be honest. I have an Oberon cover for my Kindle, so usually hold it with the cover folded back and my left fingers tucked into the front flap of the cover and my thumb on the left hand forward page button. This way, the Kindle can't slip out of my hand and fall and it is easy to use the page buttons.

I do indeed mean the webbing between the thumb and forefinger. wonder where I ever got the "frog" bit from??? hmmmmm

anyway, in bed I read naked. I also have an Oberon, but that only works for left handed reading!
