If you follow this link and then follow the "Back" link at the bottom of the note (not the back function of the reader, if it exists), it should return to the beginning of the paragraph where the footnote appears.

Okay, THIS is embarrassing: my only defense is, I'm waiting on new glasses to be delivered. I just couldn't see the superscript numbers. Ahem. However, yup, they are indeed there. I was able to see the notes, and to see the jump back (and the TOC, Table of Illustrations, etc., all of which worked fine)...but I wasn't able to see the initial superscripted numeric note. I had to really look for it. My bad. I increased the size of the font, and my error was apparent even to me. :-(
