This is an older work, that still buzzes around my head, dissatisfied. If it looks like it takes a small leaflet from Ozymandias, that's because Percy's poem is one of my favourites, and so it does (I've another, more directly copying some of that work, in a hopefully humourous fashion, somewhere around here).

Fidelity to Tyrants

The data and divine allege
inscribed along foundation's edge
are truths that stand beyond remand
(but they were writ in shifting sand)

Archaic, pharaonic pride
and power-addled dogma hide
that broken stones and muddy clods
inter the bones of fallen gods
