time after time

[ This song ( 'Time after Time' by Cyndi Lauper ) keeps digging at me, to write something. I have written several poems with this as the background song. It is like several fiction stories I have read over the years. Of people who knew each other in previous lives, and they don't recognize each other.]

I remember friends from long ago,
I wonder, do they remember me ?
Some I have fogotten their names,
memories fade away,
Oh, to remember the ones,
who I had fun with.

Driving over in that old junky car,
for a milkshake, a burger, and fries.

I looked on Google maps at the old town,
no longer the way it was, new stores,
even some of the sidewalks,
have changed.

But sometimes late at night,
I'll dream of my best bud and I,
driving over to the Dairy Queen,
to see if anyone we know is there,
but they are gone,
some died in Viet Nam,
most moved away,
I still think of them,
time after time,
like ships missing each other,
in the night and fog.

Time after Time.

The other songs that haunt at me are: the intro music to 'Ghost in the Shell' 1st gig Anime episodes and the end music for Dot hack//sign. These are well written. And they reach out and grab my attention.

It took me hearing one of the Ghost in the Shell songs, those soft quiet bells. Soetikes, you have to listen to the soft and quiet bits of a song to get it. I'm not sure I get it at all.
