I experience something like that in server rooms, from all the fans going, especially if I'm tired. I remember going out to find out who had the radio going full blast only to find the room next door empty and silent. Went back into the server room, and it started again - it really sounded like a commercial music radio station. It took me a little while to work out what it was from.
