From what I have read...
The 3.0.3 and any other updates will not break your hacks and you can always install new updates and the hacks will not break any firmware updates. Hacks are add-ons or features using the Linux system that amazon did not include (yet
).
The only snag in jailbreaking: if you get a new Kindle and its firmware is newer than the hack can handle you need to wait for a new version of the hack.
So once jailbroken your Kindle remains jailbroken except for a full re-install of your kindle or in case of getting a new Kindle with newer firmware.
