Having never seen the performance improvements in page turns at each firmware update I thought I'd do some basic tests before and after. I have the EU 3G model; I was running 3.0.2 preview (529960105) and updated to the 3.0.3 preview (536720111).
The test was to open a book (Stephen King's Under the Dome as purchased from the Kindle store), go to the cover page, and then perform 20 page turns as quickly as possible. Repeated this three times for each test case, the figure shown is the average of the three runs.
3.0.2: 10.7 seconds (0.54s per turn)
3.0.2 after reboot: 8.6 seconds (0.43s per turn)
3.0.3 after first boot: 8.1 seconds (0.41s per turn)
Whilst this was a bit of a rough set of tests, the suggestion is that the reboot has a noticeable effect on the page turn speed, whereas the 3.0.3 update itself hasn't really sped things up.
