The simple fact of "don't need iTunes" make android way better the iOS to me. And that without adding the other thing i can do with android (use my phone as modem, use mp3 as ringtone) out of the box, that the iPhone requires you to mess around for such basic things , as well as putting music or video on your phone. Just so much easier the android way.
As to windows, it seam to work out fine for lots of people.

? lnstall & activate iTunes on an iPhone? It comes installed. There is no "activation," unless you mean that if you don't have an Apple account, you need to get one to buy from the iTunes Store. No different than buying from anywhere else.
