The same sort of behavior with websites/pages as well, sometimes they would not load (or be really slow) and other times work fine. I updated the software in my router (D-Link Dir655) but no evident change. When I'd reset the Router it would seem to be better for a bit and then start in again with the dropouts......so.......I came to the conclusion that the wireless router was likely bad. I stopped at MicroCenter and agonized over whether to get the same router, a more expensive one or a different brand....ended up buying the same one and brought it home. Figured I'd get on line and see it happen, then swap out the routers..... well.....not one dropout since yesterday afternoon....I have not even taken the new router out of the shopping bag. Seems pretty clear at this point that it was friggin' COMCAST again!
Wish I knew that was happening, I'd have saved you the trip.

We had the EXACT same problem for about a week. Finally last Sunday I called and they said they'd send someone the next day. Got up the next morning and everything was fine; guy showed up and told Shel everything was fixed that morning, something higher up was going on which caused it after a number of people called in with this "strange behavior".

That said, check the hardware revision of the newer 655; if it's B1 or later it'll get the firmware to enable IPv6, revs. A1 to A4 (i.e. mine) won't. Keep the new one and Fleabay the old one, or keep it as a switch; they're still damn fast, especially wireless.
