I think he was waiting for me to pick him up... I should have picked him up earlier...

I know people can decide when to die, like waiting for their family to come, or waiting for them to go - my father waited to my mother to go - and working in a nursinghome for many years I've seen it over and over.

Max died within a couple of minutes of me picking him up.. I couldn't believe it.. He was all of a sudden so still, I touched his eyes, and there was no response - I knew he had gone. I held him for a long time - till he started to stiffen up, bagged him up and put him in the freezer... I'll bury him on Monday.

His cage still hasn't been cleaned, but I'm sure someone (me) will do it soon.

PS. Max was 3 years and 4 months old, so he did have a long life, as rats normally only live for around 2 years.
