Completely different HTML rendering engine. It isn't because the Kindle 3 has more RAM.

The bigger buffer theory would be true if it had to load the MP3 files off a HDD of some kind but the Kindle uses flash so loading from the "drive" is quick so no. You don't need to cache the MP3 in memory.
