I'm late to responding, but the Sue Barton books are available from Image Cascade, which republishes girls' series books.

I loved this series and acquired the books with difficulty in the pre-Image Cascade days. I think they hold up remarkably well, as an exploration of balancing career and private life as viewed through the prism of the 1930s and 1940s.
