Well, it is different from the original Kobo's handling, but I am not sure it would count as a problem for me. When a preloaded book is brought into the I'm Reading section, it would have to be pretty much like any other book on the reader in order to sync across devices. It then behaves like any of the free (or paid) books you have downloaded from the website.
