i just finished the third book. i read them in order.
all 3 fit my criteria for "very good," meaning that i looked forward to each chance that i had to read some more and that i was also a little disappointed when i came to the end of each one.
one of my criteria for a book being "good" is that it has to be within the realm of believability as set by the context of the book. one of the things that i enjoy so much about john grisham's books are their believability, and the thing that i hate about some other authors (coben, i think) is unbelievability that borders on ridiculousness. books #1 and #3 skirted just over the edge of believability at times, while #2 took a big leap, but i nevertheless enjoyed them overall.
i didn't see the movie until after reading the book, and found the most enjoyable part of the movie to be the casting. when the lisbeth character was seen for the first time in the movie, she turned to face the audience and i said, "perfect."
