for me, the kindle 3 turns almost a split second after pressing the button, while the DX G is slower...

same .mobi, though the kindle 3 is brand new with nothing else on, while I have 2GB of crap on my DX G...

maybe the DX G has to read/buffer more words for the next page?

All else being equal, the time it takes to refresh a screen is roughly proportional to the number of pixels. DX is 1200x824, K3 800x600, hence roughly twice as many pixels.

And not all is equal: Amazon tweaked the font rendering stuff for K3 and it is supposed to be '20% faster' (I think CPU speed is the same since K2). So it should come as no surprise if page turns on K3 are noticeably faster.

However, you only need to make about half as many page turns on DX, and reading speed should be a little faster since the text lays out better.
