I'm glad I got my phone last year in that case, the only thing preloaded was the navigator app which wasn't too bad, but was way too expensive for what it did, or rather didn't do. I hate preloaded stuff on things that then you need to remove yourself - I'll have to watch out for that next year when I get a new phone.
Regarding the topic at hand - pretty smart move on Amazon's part. I agree that the next step would be "first book free" in order to get people to use it, otherwise it'll just sit there ignored with the rest of the bloat.
