Hi,
the board keeps nagging me about introducing myself, so here I am
My first ereading device was a handspring visor (that's 160x160 pixels) with a rather large collection of eReader.com books, mainly science fiction. Since it fell out of use (I did read most of the Dragonriders of Pern series on it, though) I only used laptops for reading, and was waiting for dedicated ebook readers to finally drop in price to a reasonable level. Now that they have, I've preordered an OYO (6 inch, epub/ADE, sipix touchscreen), which is heavily being marketed by a major german book retail chain at the moment, and which should arrive before the end of october.
I've also been postponing trying out a kindle for a long time now. I actually like amazon, and the kindle looks interesting to me, but I think it's still crippled outside of the U.S. so I was still waiting. I don't care that much for german literature, and would feel comfortable to free and convert it from whatever format to .mobi, but I hate the geo-restrictions even on english-language content.
In real life I'm studying linguistics and programming computers. I've found this forum through google when I educated myself about various ways of changing books' formats to keep my collection readable now and in the future. It has already been a helpful resource, thanks for that.
cheers,
Sonja
