Hi
Hi, I am Laurent Alebarde from France. It is some months I have been checking the ebook readers market, reading reviews and finally, I happily landed here. This site is very useful, especially because new technologies are not always correctly advertised, nor of expected quality.
As an example, the K..... asserts they support a lot of formats, and it is just when you dig the details that you discover you have to reformat your documents to their format. And the way they want you to do it is by sending your documents to their servers. The usual user will buy the agressivly advertized K, discover how it works after having received the device and tried unfruitfully to read his ebooks from the Gütenberg project, and not knowing alternatives as Calibre, they will bring their personal information (what is of interrest for you) to A..... to have it reformated, providing them with huge profiling data for further marketing and business. Know what one reads and know how one lives and what one purchases. Others promise some features, they don't provide even after one year.
Feedbacks and wish lists are the engine and oil of consumers, for all to have the best fit and to motivate manufacturers towards better products and services.
Here is how I have evolved in the last months : Kindle -> Kindle 3 -> Nook -> Iliad Irex -> Sony -> Onyx Boox 60 -> Bookeen Cybook Orizon -> PocketBook 603 -> Sony 650 or 750. I will wait for the first comments before taking my final decision. So, I am very unsure to get one before x-mas. But I am a patient guy.
A good pdf reflow is my first criteria. Second is hardware quality, third is how the interface is designed. Of course, I want a price in the market for what it offers.
So, happy buy & reading to all !
Laurent.
